Materials and Substances Declaration Development Document
The Declaration Support team within Work Group 1 of the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG) has published V3.0 of its “Materials & Substances Declaration Development”. This document provides basic information, discussion, and illustrative examples on calculation of substance content in products. The enhanced document provides further insight into the challenging and poorly understood subject areas of reactive and transformational materials. These transformational materials have a different final composition after incorporation into a product than the material(s) initially had prior to processing and application to the product (e.g., a two-component paint system). This valuable free resource also provides useful tips for substance identification and mass calculation and works through several examples of declarations including a small complex article that highlights usage of multi-part materials/mixtures containing both volatile and reactive substances. A jacketed cable calculation along with a homogeneous material (RoHS) declaration round out the helpful examples. The document also contains important information about Safety Data Sheets, surface finishing processes, and helpful references, websites, and tools that readers can utilize to create more accurate and meaningful materials and substances declarations.
Aerospace Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Datasets
This document is released for purpose of providing a shared vision of the environmental datasets specifically needed by the aerospace sector when conducting LCAs. It is intended for aerospace sector actors as well as for environmental data providers looking to have a vision of inputs most commonly used throughout the sector.

With 900+ participants – from global Original Equipment Manufacturers and agile Small and Medium-sized Enterprises to university researchers and regulators – IAEG gathers expertise from every stage of an aircraft’s life cycle. That collective wisdom becomes ready‑to‑use calculators, templates, and step‑by‑step guidance you can slot straight into daily workflows. Clear legal safeguards let members surface common pain points, solve them once, and spread the solution quickly, for voluntary and unilateral consideration and use, while raising skill levels across the entire supply chain.

IAEG: Aerospace Aligned
As the industry tackles climate challenges and stricter environmental social and governance disclosures, IAEG remains anchored to its foundational principle: robust compliance opens the door to unprecedented collaboration. We now look ahead to 2030 with a clear mandate – engage every corner of the supply chain, accelerate material stewardship, and equip even the smallest supplier to lead on sustainability. The goal is nothing less than a global aerospace ecosystem where environmental excellence is standard practice.
VISION: A Sustainable Aerospace and Defense Industry
MISSION: We are the leading global aerospace and defense sustainability forum for sharing best practices, developing harmonized solutions and encouraging value chain adoption.
AIMS:
- Foster Sustainability
- Engage Supply Chain
- Drive Materials Stewardship
- Address Climate Change
