BREXIT - POTENTIAL IMPACTS ON AEROSPACE & DEFENSE CHEMICAL SUPPLY CHAIN: FROM A "NO DEAL" PERSPECTIVE
BREXIT is an abbreviation for the “British Exit”, referring to the United Kingdom’s (UK’s) decision in a June 23, 2016 referendum to leave the European Union (EU). The UK is thus due to leave the EU on 29 March 2019. As of the date of this webpage update (November 2018), the new process for trading chemicals substances and for REACH registrations and authorizations between the UK and the EU is unclear.
BREXIT has potential business continuity impacts for the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry, in particular for chemical manufacturers, importers, distributors and downstream users that are located in the UK, EU and the rest of the world.
In the event that a deal is not reached between the UK and EU prior to the Exit Date, IAEG® has identified possible issues relating to the continued supply and use of chemicals in the A&D supply chain and prepared educational materials to assist the IAEG membership and its supply chain with awareness and considerations for mitigation planning.
